An international banker took the opportunity to add an adjacent apartment in a classic Village coop building, even before he had moved in to the renovation of his initial commitment. The design team was entrusted with seamlessly integrating two highly eccentric apartment layouts to make a rational whole. The point of departure for the aesthetics was taken from the previous decorating job, which was extremely sleek and monochromatic, in a way that reflected the gracious Parisian spirit of the building. The apartment includes two sunken rooms, one taken as the Living Room and one adapted as the new Master Bedroom. A new Master Bathroom suite incorporates an even sleeker, more contemporary image as a highly reflective assemblage of laminated glass products and honed stone tiles. Throughout, diagonal views are reinforced across rooms, both vertically and horizontally, by the use of arched openings which combine with the circulation halls to create the impression of a much larger apartment.
