MOORE-SILVEIRA LOFT
NoHo District, New York

Partner-in-Charge: David Sherman
Contractor: Boyce Renovations
Completed: 2005
Project Team: Sebastian Kaempf

A loft for a pair of creative directors was renovated for the upcoming birth of their first child. After many years of living in the loft in the classic sense, with pervasive living space, they had decided to create actual rooms. This involved sub-dividing the space to incorporate two bedrooms, and adding a new bathroom. The process promised to touch every corner of the loft, so it was decided to embark on a full renovation, including a new kitchen and laundry room.

The newly-renovated space incorporates a pallette of cherry wood components set off by a neutral white background. Kitchen cabinets and a variety of built-in shelf systems were organized as foreground elements, with the white paint taking on several sheens depending on whether it was newly-constructed interior partitions, or pre-existing plaster walls, ceilings and beams.

The built-in dining booth afforded a casual place for family dining adjacent to the kitchen, with the formal dining table remaining a part of the living space.
