Keeping only the Landmarked facade, an elaborate design was created to bring light from the roof down a 5-story open staircase, and to reconstruct an original copper mansard with dormers that had been destroyed in the mid-20th century. The residence has been restored to single-family use after decades as a multiple dwelling.
